The most recent publication of Champions Magazine in December- January 2009, publishes a three pages interview with Adrian Mutu. The attacker talks about how he succeeded passing over the nightmare at Chelsea and about the person who stood by him.

"I did not waste my time"

 

Adi speaks about his rebirth after the drugs scandal at Chelsea. "I am almost 30 years old; I see life in a different way! I never wasted my time, when the story happened I did not stop to think or cry. I knew immediately what I was doing wrong, and I told myself: Ok, tomorrow is another day; you have to take it from the start! It was a severe mistake, especially because I am a sportsman and I am suppose to have a healthy life", Mutu describes the black period of his life.

 

 

"My mother helped me rebirth"


The player of Fiorentina also talked about the support of his parents: "When everybody bungled me, one person comforted me: my mother. She often comes to my games, because my father is afraid to fly but they are both very proud of me. Parents love their children very much, despite of everything they do: if they become football players or achieve nothing", Mutu continues.


At the age of 3 goalkeeper, at 6 attacker


Fiorentina's attacker told the story of becoming a football player. "Since I was 3 years old, I wanted to become a football player; both my parents played football, both of them as goalkeepers. My mother performed for the amateurs, Carmen team, and my father for the Third League. My mother was better then my father, when I was kecking the ball, because my mother would keep more goals...They both suggested I should become a goalkeeper, but at 6 I thrown away the gloves and told them: You defend, I will score!"


"Prandelli is number 1"


The attacker of the Romanian team explained why he left Juventus and chose signing a contract with Fiorentina: "I did not leave Juve because of the Calciopoli scandal, but because I wanted to make team with Cesare Pirandelli again and more, I had the chance to play constantly. I got along well with all the coaches I worked with- Lippi, Ranieri, Capello, but Mourinho was the exception. We did not match, it was impossible to get along, because we were both arrogant. For me, Prandelli is number 1"


"You wish to run away from me on the field"


The attacker specified that his performances since arriving to Fiorentina improved from the first year to the moment and that he accumulated a certain maturity while playing. "On the field, you wish to run away from me. During my first season at Fiorentina I received the yellow card for 14 times, then for 6, two on the same game, turned to a red one. Until now, during this season I received no card. I tried to cooperate better with the arbiters", explained Adrian.


"I hope to achieve at Fiorentina what Batistuta achieved, he was a great champion', stated the Romanian player in the end.
