I see it all goes on the fact that I shouldn't have left for America, to assist my daughter's birth, to be close to my wife in such an important moment of our life. I would like to ask some who spoke so much about this subject so many questions. They should shut up. Either they lost their senses and don't realize what they are talking about, or they don't give a damn, since they are talking about my family and not theirs. The birth of a child is a unique moment and I wouldn't have missed those moments for anything! For me, my family is more important then football. Period!Regarding the meantime zone, I would like to compare what happened here and what happen to Fiorentina. I spent 10 days in the US, I returned to Bucharest on May 20, and I had my first match on June, 9. There are three weeks. Enough time for me to prepare for the game, to recover, to adjust to the local time. Everybody ran wild talking about Mutu. Oh, God, this is the reason why he did not play well, he was the weakest on the field, etc. It is true, I did not play at my best, the way I would have wished, I agree with them. But was I as weak as some say?
They should check the statistics of the Romanian football team at the European Championship. The only goal scored - Mutu. Five out of seven Romanian goals belong to Mutu and the list can continue. Therefore, the conclusion is that the most important outcomes of the Romanian team belong to the weakest player on the field! That's good!
I would like to point out that after the European Championship, I spent one month in the US, not 10 days. I returned on June 15 and I started my training right next day. I had my first game on August 11, three weeks after my return. At the trainings I wasn't brilliant, that's true, due to the tiredness accumulated, but I heard no comment on the fact that I didn't perform well because of the meantime zone. Nor my coach, neither the Italian press commented on that.
Regarding my physical shape before the European Championship, and especially regarding the comments according to which it was a bad shape, as the results on the medical test would have proved, I would like to state that I was not tested at that visit, I didn't even stand on the bike. At the moment, the doctors considered it unnecessary, after such a busy season. So, what was the parameter of our doctor, Pompiliu Popescu, I don't know.
You can say you hated my performance on the field, that on your opinion I was not in a good shape, or I should have scored on the penalty (that is something I know!), yes, I accept that with no comment, but I got so tired hearing all kinds of things as I shouldn't have left for America, that I was not in shape, that in the hotel I did things with the receptionists and other stupid stories like this!
I CANNOT ACCEPT THAT! THIS NONSENSE HAS TO STOP!
